This afternoon, Tom Staggs, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, announced that the five-year expansion of Disney California Adventure park will be complete on June 15 with the opening of Cars Land, Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle Theatre!

Flo’s V8 Café Coming to Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

The Happiest Place on Earth will get even happier with four new attractions – Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Flying Tires, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and the Red Car Trolley – as well as new dining and shopping locations such as Flo’s V8 Café, Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream, Elias & Co. and Los Feliz Five & Dime. Disney California Adventure park will offer guests even more new experiences in addition to the attractions that have been added since the expansion began in 2007.

To accommodate a media preview and make final preparations for the opening, Disney California Adventure park will be closed for one day on June 14. Disneyland park, Downtown Disney District and the Disneyland Resort hotels will remain open for our guests on that day.

Take a look back at all the additions to Disney California Adventure park and a look ahead at all the new things to come this summer:

So get your engines revving and we’ll see you there on June 15!

  • When can I start lining up the day before for the re-opening of DCA 2.0. I’m already planning every minute of this day.

  • 100 days until it opens to the public, how many days until Cast Preview?? And pass holders? It would be nice to be able to surprise guests with this opportunity. More info please! :^) This is going to be so wonderful, thank you imagineers! And THANK YOU WALT DISNEY! <3

I too had misgivings when I first saw renderings for the proposed new DCA entrance and how it seemed to be a duplicate of the Disney’s Hollywood Studios (formerly Disney/MGM Studios Themepark) entrance. I felt that DCA should have it’s own unique entrance. But then I carefully studied pictures of the two entrances side by side, and they have distinct differences when examined more closely!

And when you compare the two entrances to historical photos of the original Pan Pacific Auditorium that served as the inspiration for them, it turns out that the new DCA entrance is a much more faithful recreation, and the differences on the Florida entrance make it more of an “inspired by the Pan Pacific” version than an accurate recreation.

So that realization made me feel a lot better about the new DCA entrance which, in my opinion by the way, is the more streamlined, elegant and refined of the two!

  • I hope there is lots of neon like in the movie.

  • I can not wait! November couldn’t come soon enough!

  • Seems like yesterday when plans were announced. Now we are only a few months away.

  • I am so looking forward to this! Disneyland may be challenged by the limits of streets which surround it, but their imagination has never known any limits.

  • Thinking about this just made my day! Can’t wait to experience all the new attractions.

Time to renew my pass that expired last week…

  • Are resort hotel guests still going to be able to enter DCA an hour before the public on the 15th?

  • ooohhhh i hope they do an ap preview

  • Looking forward to my first visit on Sept. 13!

  • Any chance of an Annual Passholder preview for Cars Land like there was for Ariel and Star Tours last year?

  • Its has been a number of years since I visited Walt Disney World, but if I remember correctly the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studio looks the same as the new entrance to DCA.
I know the parks have some things that are the same as far as attraction etc. I get it, who wants to re-invent the wheel? Clearly there is a difference in Test Track at Epcot and the DCA Radiator Spring Racers attraction.

So I was wondering if there is anything uniquely differnt about the DCA entrance?

  • Wow! I cannot wait! I’m so excited for it all!

Although, one historical note…the Pan Pacific Auditorium opened in 1935, which is not really around the time Walt Disney arrived in Los Angeles. It would have opened 12 years after he came.

But, I still LOVE it as the entrance!

  • Very exciting!

  • i am soo excited about this! as much as i miss the old california adventure entrance and ill probably miss sunshine plaza as well this is going to be awesome! i cant wait to check out cars land…im still hoping for a drive in theatre!(fingers crossed)

  • Any chance of a soft opening the week before? We’ll be there the 4-8 and my 4 year old son will be heart broken if he can’t get in there.

  • Yahoo!!! I have been patiently, anxiously awaiting the opening since I first saw the plans at the Blue Sky Cellar. It is going to be sooo exciting.
